Collective Wilfried Siewe

The Wilfried Siewe Collective is a group of people who are joining forces to raise public awareness for the cause of Wilfried Siewe, the father of a family unjustly detained in Cameroon since February 18, 2019 and to obtain his release.

Our collective is to be seen as nonpolitical and humanitarian.

We believe that every human being regardless of origin, gender and social status should be treated with justice, fairness and dignity. These 3 values constitute for us fundamental rights for every human being and we feel impelled to act whenever one of these rights is questioned.

In the case of Wilfried Siewe his rights to justice, fairness and dignity were not recognized. He was unjustly incarcerated without just cause and then sentenced without being able to defend himself or even be heard. In prison, he was tortured, almost beaten to death, lying on the floor, sprayed with dirty water by prison staff. As a result of these abuses he suffered serious head injuries which were stitched up only 3 days later without any anesthetic. He therefore narrowly escaped a serious infection that would certainly have caused his death. In view of these facts and beyond the injustices suffered, the collective is convinced that the life of Wilfried Siewe is in danger and that any person who remains silent and is aware of these facts is an accomplice. The collective will not only refused to remain silent but will fight with all its strength to ensure that Wilfried Siewe’s fundamental rights are fully recognized.

We dare to hope that the Cameroonian justice system will be able to repair the wrongs committed against Wilfried Siewe and we wish to attract as many people as possible in order to create a fairer world around us.

We also hope to obtain public and audible support from the German government and its citizens. Germany brags to be a country of respect for human rights and human equity. We would like to hear its voice when a German of African origin is the victim of injustices that may even be life-threatening.

We want to make Wilfried’s case a textbook case from which we will organize the struggle for causes related to all kinds of injustices suffered by any person of African origin.

This is necessary at a time when the Black Live Matters movement is moving the lines around the world for black men who have been abusively murdered, we ask that this same world does not wait for Wilfried Siewe’s death to cherish his life!
